It's the first visit of the Chancellor of Germany to our country in the past 14 years, which makes it historic. I’m convinced that we’ll give a serious boost to the promotion of our cooperation and bilateral trade turnover. It’s of special importance, as Germany is one of our key European and event global partners. We attach great importance to our strong and multifaceted cooperation. We’ll do our utmost to further deepen and strengthen mutual ties, said Tokayev.

In his turn, Olaf Scholz thanked for the hospitality and noted the importance to continue enhancing Kazakh-German interaction.

I’m grateful for your invitation and the opportunity to discuss our bilateral relations and to move them forward. It’s worth noting that I lead a high-profile delegation of business circles, said the German Chancellor.

The interlocutors discussed the issues of expanding political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries. Special attention was placed to the cooperation in the field of energy and green transition, industry, mining, transport and logistics, climate change, ecology, agriculture and education.

During the meeting, Kazakh leader Tokayev spoke about the settlement of the situation around Ukraine at the request of the guest.

The fact is that Russia is invincible in terms of its military. Further escalation of the war could lead to irreparable consequences to all humanity, especially to all the countries directly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Unfortunately, the chance was missed to achieve at least a truce with the refusal to conclude the Istanbul agreement. However, there is still the opportunity to achieve peace. All peace initiatives put forward by different countries need to be considered carefully and a solution should be reached to cease military operations, and then move to discussions over territorial issues. From our point of view, the peace plan proposal by China and Brazil deserves support. Heads of State come and go, but peoples, especially neighboring nations, should live in peace and mutual understanding. Russia and Kazakhstan share the longest delimited land boundary in the world, promote cooperation within the strategic partnership and alliance. There is a true sympathy for the Ukrainian people, their distinctive culture in Kazakhstan. Our countries have never had any disagreements. The embassy of our country continues to function in Kyiv, said the Kazakh leader.
