Tokayev meets with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for accepting the invitation to join the SCO summit as an honored guest, Kazinform News Agency cites the Akorda press service.
The Head of State of Kazakhstan commended the progressive development of comprehensive Kazakh-Azeri cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance as well as obtaining new content on the systemic manner.
I have warm memories of my visit to Baku and Shusha. Indeed, it was a pivotal visit, without exaggeration, a historic one. During the talks, we gave a significant boost to further interaction in a whole range of strategic areas, said the Head of State.
Both leaders discussed the realization of joint projects in the field of investment, industry, energy, transport and logistics. In this context, special attention was attached to the efficient use of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
For his part, Aliyev thanked for the traditional warm reception and reaffirmed the commitment of Baku to further enhancement of bilateral cooperation with Astana on a whole range of interstate ties.
The Azeri leader also expressed gratitude to Tokayev for facilitating negotiation processes between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Aliyev stressed that Kazakhstan, as a decent member of the world community, plays a significant role both regionally and globally.
The talks also focused on the prospects for further strengthening of trade and economic and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. An exchange of views on issues of further interaction within international organizations took place as well.
Following the meeting, an agreement on management of a joint investment fund was signed between Samruk Kazyna NWF and Azerbaijan Investment Holding in the presence of the leaders of both countries.
