Tokayev, Putin hold expanded meeting

According to Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the current visit of Russian President Putin to Kazakhstan is of special importance in terms of further defining prospects for development of interstate relations. Bilateral cooperation of the two countries successfully develops in all directions in a spirit of strategic partnership and alliance, Kazakh President Tokayev said at the meeting, Kazinform News Agency reports. 

Tokayev pointed out that thanks to joint efforts around 25 million people residing in cross-border regions of Kazakhstan and Russia benefit from the two countries’ active cross-border cooperation.

During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the key aspects of bilateral economic agenda, defined the main long-term cooperation areas and reached a number of agreements aimed at deepening interaction in a wide range of areas such as healthcare, energy, transport, agriculture, sport, and more.

Russian President Putin thanked his counterpart for the traditionally warm welcome and noted the resultful talks in narrow format.

Russia and Kazakhstan are not just allies but the closest allies. Such relations have been established decades ago and I’d like to thank Tokayev for keeping this tradition of strengthening our relations, which are certainly benefiting our peoples, said the Russian President.

Putin also said that alongside agriculture the priority areas of cooperation need to include education and science, high technology, mechanical building, chemical industry, and industrial production.

In conclusion, the two leaders confirmed mutual commitment to the deepening of multifaceted Kazakhstani-Russian relations and promoting integration processes in the Eurasian space.
