Tokayev receives deputy PM Serik Zhumangarin
Kazakh Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received deputy prime minister Serik Zhumangarin, Kazinform News Agency cites the Akorda press service.
The deputy PM provided the Kazakh President with the information on the current activity on the relevant issues of trade, integration and agriculture. Among the current issues of agenda is the preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
2024 is to mark 10 years since the establishment of the integration grouping of the five countries. Since then, the EAEU’s mutual trade with Kazakhstan has increased 74% ($16.3bn in 2015, $28.3bn in 2022), with a 90% rise in the export ($5.1bn in 2015, $9.7bn in 2022).
Tokayev was also briefed about the implementation of his instructions on increasing the agro-industrial complex’s processing volume from 30% to 70%. As of today, the agriculture ministry has prepared a pool of 500 major promising projects in the sphere of agro-industrial complex for KZT1.6trl for 2024-26. The projects are to receive around KZT500bn for the first time from the domestic second-tier bank. The list of promising projects is to be updated soon.
The Kazakh Head of State instructed the deputy PM to step up the control over the effective use of the funds funneled in the agriculture projects and ensure a quality preparation for the events at the international level.
