Tokayev receives Nebras Power Chairman Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a meeting with Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri, Chairman of the Board of Nebras Power, Akorda reports.
During the meeting focused on prospects for investment cooperation in renewable energy sources, President Tokayev welcomed the agreement signed recently between Nebras Power Holding and Samruk Energi on construction of the Semipalatinsk hydropower plant with a capacity of 300 MW.
The Head of State commended the role of this project in fostering a long-term strategic partnership between Astana and Doha, reaffirming the readiness of the Kazakh government to provide all-round support for its successful implementation.
The Kazakh leader highlighted that Kazakhstan seeks to increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix to up to 15% by 2030.
On his part, Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri informed the President of Kazakhstan about the main stages of the joint project and stressed the significant potential of Kazakhstan in green energy.
Earlier it was reported that President Tokayev arrived in Qatar for a working visit.
