Tokayev suggests developing concept to align main transport arteries of CIS

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dwelled on the importance of measures to modernize the existing infrastructure, simplifying administrative procedures, and introducing integrated logistics solutions, including digital ones, in order to strengthen the countries’ transit potential at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, Kazinform Agency cites Akorda.

Tokayev suggested developing a concept to align the main transport arteries passing the CIS territory. According to him, the document is to become a new transit-logistics code of the Eurasian space with the CIS countries’ interests taken into account.

The Kazakh President also call ensuring food security as a priority.

A more active interaction is needed to develop more productive and environmentally sustainable agriculture. More favorable conditions to exchange advanced experience, establish supply chains, simplify phytosanitary and veterinary requirements are necessary, said the Kazakh Head of State.

According to the President, climate change poses serious risks to the sustainable progress of the countries.

The Central Asian countries are already facing serious issues due to the increase in the average temperature on Earth, said the Kazakh Head of State.

Tokayev believes it is of high importance to enhance constructive interaction on this matter within the CIS.

Earlier Kazinform reported that the President of Kazakhstan had arrived in Bishkek for a working visit to take part in the meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

As said earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had called upon the CIS leaders to turn the region into a large transport and logistics hub.
