Tokyo holds roundtable on Kazakh-Japanese relations prospects

ASTANA. March 10. KAZINFORM A roundtable dedicated to prospects of the Kazakh-Japanese relations has been held in the Diet (Parliament) of Japan in Tokyo on March 9.

As the Kazakh MFA's press service reports, deputies of the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Kazakhstan, experts, representatives of the MFA and mass media took part in the event.

Kazakh Ambassador Akylbek Kamaldinov informed the Japanese parliamentarians of main provisions of the annual Message of the Head of State, our country's achievements in the socio-economic sphere, economic and political reforms conducted in the country, international initiatives of Astana as well as of upcoming presidential elections.

Positively estimating Kazakhstan's success, the roundtable participants stressed importance of further expansion of bilateral cooperation. They were especially interested in ambitious plans and prospects of the dynamically developing state.

Chairman of the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Kazakhstan - one of the founders of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan, former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama informed the gathered of his successful negotiations (being the head of the Japanese Government) with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev within the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington in April, 2010 and Kazakh Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev during his official visit to Japan in March, 2010.

Yukio Hatoyama focused attention on Kazakhstan's significance for Japan as a strategic economic partner and as a regional leader, noted the country's special role in the processes of ensuring global security and stability.

During the bilateral meeting of A.Kamaldinov and Yukio Hatoyama the sides expressed mutual consent on necessity of maintenance of dynamics of the political dialog for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in whole.
