According to information published in Pace Analytics Telegram channel, a photo of the tornadoes was taken near D Island, near the Kashagan field.

“Gennady Tarassenko from the Yesenov Aktau University is presently studying this phenomenon. He also studies changes in the Earth's energy field. This may be the cause of new phenomena,” a report says.

Tornadoes have not been previously registered in the Caspian Sea, bordered by five countries - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Russia and Iran. Therefore, this may be the first tornado in the Caspian Sea.

Kashagan is one of the world's largest oil and gas fields, located in the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea. Located 80 kilometers southwest of the city of Atyrau, Kashagan occupies the area of 75x45 kilometers. The field's collector is located at a depth of about 4,200 meters below the seabed in its northern part.

NCOC which develops this field, has not yet commented on the information about the tornado.
