Tornado rips off school roof, downs power lines in western Kazakhstan

URALSK. July 2. KAZINFORM A tornado has reportedly touched down in Zhanakalinsk district of western Kazakhstan today, ripping the roof off a school building, Kazinform correspondent Elzhan Eraly said.

The devastating blasts of wind also took down power and phone lines.

After the tornado swept through the territory of the district, local volunteers and light crews were on hand removing debris from downed power lines. A brigade fixed gaping holes in the school roof.

The Emergencies Department of the West Kazakhstan region issued a warning of enormous wind earlier on Monday.
