On Saturday morning, an unpleasant incident occurred in the Pompeii Archaeological Park: a tourist from Kazakhstan was detained for causing damage to an ancient monument. A man carved the letters "ALI" on the light plaster wall in the Tseev House, Kazinform News Agency reports with reference to Euronews.

Park security staff noticed the vandalism and immediately detained the offender. Information about the incident was transmitted to a stationary carabinieri post located next to the park, after which the tourist was arrested. He will have to compensate for the damage caused to the architectural monument. The amount of compensation will be determined after a technical examination.

The House of Ceev is one of the rare examples of dwellings from the late Samnite period (2nd century BC). It was excavated in 1913-1914 and, according to archaeologists, belonged to the magistrate Lucius Caius Secundus, as evidenced by the inscription on the external facade of the building. The facade of the house, decorated with white stucco and a high portal with cubic capitals, reflects the austere style of architecture characteristic of the houses of influential people of the time.

Recently one more incident involving tourists from Kazakhstan occurred, Greek media reported about a fire on the island of Hydra, which was allegedly caused by fireworks set off from a yacht rented by tourists from Kazakhstan.
