Toyota will notify the owners of the vehicles by mid-February, the Japanese automaker said.

The vehicles being recalled are models made between 2020 and 2022, including six Toyota models, such as the Camry sedan and the RAV4 sport utility vehicle, and the Lexus-branded ES and RX, it said.

Toyota said a sensor meant to detect an occupant in the front passenger seat could suffer a short-circuit problem that prevents the air bag from deploying in an accident.

The automaker declined to comment on whether there have been any reports of injuries resulting from the defect.
