Traffic accident kills 5 in S Kazakhstan

SHYMKENT. KAZINFORM - Head-on collision in South Kazakhstan has killed two drivers and three passengers, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department reports.

According to preliminary information, the collision occurred on Lenger - Ekpendy highway. "Volkswagen Vento" driver lost control of the car and ploughed into the other lane. Four people have died at the scene of the accident. One of the injured died later in an intensive care unit of the district hospital. Police initiated criminal case under the article 296 of the Criminal Code. The press service told that in South Kazakhstan region more than 2 thousands traffic violations were revealed within 3 days. Last week 11 people were killed and 54 received injuries of varying severity. Thus, another road accident occurred on Turkestan-Kentau highway. "Volkswagen Passat" driver, a 33-year-old resident of Kentau, lost steering control and drove into the oncoming lane where his car collided head-on with "VAZ-2106". VAZ-2106 was driven by a 38-year-old resident of Turkestan. As a result of the accident two passengers of Volkswagen - residents of the Russian Federation, and one passenger of VAZ have died. Two drivers were hospitalized with injuries.
