According to the local police department, the incident occurred at the Oskemen-1 station, located in the Zachita (Protection) microdistrict, on the outskirts of the regional center.

“40-year-old woman was crossing the road in an unauthorized area, over the rails. The individual did not have sufficient time to observe the oncoming freight train. It should be recalled that it is prohibited to use railroad tracks as a crosswalk,” the police department stated.

The woman, who sustained various injuries, is currently hospitalized, and the investigation is underway. The department has reported that since the beginning of the year, 79 people have fallen under the wheels of the rolling stock in the country, with more than half of them dying. In six cases, children were injured, and more than 39,000 Kazakhstanis were fined for crossing railroad tracks in an unauthorized place.
