Transnistrian conflict settlement in "5 plus 2" format represents effective instrument - OSCE Sec Gen

ASTANA. November 30. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ Work on the Transnistrian conflict settlement should be continued taking into account results established by Kazakhstan. OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut has said it at a briefing in Astana.

According to him, recently there was held a large number of meetings in informal manner, which represent a very good format of discussions. But official top-level meetings have not been carried out for several years. "As is known, Moldova held parliamentary elections. We hope that they will lay foundation for discussions resumption on this problem", he said.

The OSCE Secretary General emphasized that work of Special Representative for Protracted Conflicts Bolat Nurgaliyev showed great resolution in this conflict settlement.

"I think that we have good instruments, which are adopted and recognized, within the "5 plus 2" format and OSCE participation. We will continue the work. Next year Lithuania will take up the torch. It is very important for the Lithuanian chairmanship to move forward on this direction. I suppose that Lithuania will expend great efforts and continue work which was brought to a good level by Kazakhstan", he said.
