Trilateral meeting in Astana to focus on ways out of crisis for EEU
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus are expected to meet in Astana today and discuss the ways out of crisis for the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) at the tripartite meeting.
"Last year was full of events. The Eurasian Economic Union became effective on January 1. Unfortunately, the EEU faced the daunting challenge of falling oil prices, especially in Russia and Kazakhstan. We've always known such risks are inevitable. There were some concerns. But, after our talk the measures were taken and the situation stabilized," Nursultan Nazarbayev said during the bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the Kazakh President, the leaders of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus will also discuss ongoing matters related to celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Second World War, and situation in the world and the region.
