Tropical storm Tomas threatens earthquake-torn Haiti
MOSCOW. November 5. KAZINFORM People are being evacuated from temporally shelters in Haiti, which is still devastating after a January earthquake, as Hurricane Tomas approaching the country, world media said; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake followed by aftershocks devastated Haiti on January 12. Estimates as to the final death toll in the earthquake range to over 220,000 in and around the capital Port-au-Prince.
Several hundred thousand homes were destroyed. More than three million were left without shelter.
Now, those who survived the earthquake have to flee temporally refugee camps as the new natural disaster threatens their lives.
The storm has already killed 14 people in Saint Lucia and is to hit Haiti today; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
