Trump bans gender transition procedures for minors in executive order
Sex reassignment surgeries for individuals under the age of 19 are prohibited in the United States by an executive order issued by President Donald Trump, reports a Kazinform News Agency correspondent.

“Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions. This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end,” states the text of the executive order released by the White House.
Accordingly to the document, the United States “will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called “transition” of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures,” the document states.
It specifies that the term “child” or “children” refers to individuals under the age of 19.
The order bans the use of puberty blockers, sex hormones, and surgical procedures aimed at altering a person’s appearance “to align it with an identity different from their biological sex.”
The president has instructed all federal agencies to repeal or amend any policies that rely on the guidance of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), citing “the blatant harm inflicted on children through chemical and surgical mutilation.” Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is required to publish a review of existing literature on best practices for children’s health within 90 days.
The Department of Defense has been directed to exclude “chemical and surgical mutilation of children” from the TRICARE health insurance program for minors.
The U.S. Department of Justice will be responsible for overseeing compliance with the executive order.
Earlier, it was reported that child suicides in Japan hit record high in 2024.
