Trump's Stargate plan: $500 bln AI revolution and over 100,000 jobs
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of the Stargate project, aimed at investing up to $500 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure development across the United States. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
During a speech at the White House, Trump revealed that Stargate will begin with an initial investment of $100 billion, with plans to increase the funding to $500 billion over the next few years. The project includes the construction of data centers, starting in Texas, to support AI advancement.
The primary equity contributors to the Stargate initiative include SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. Leading the project, SoftBank oversees financial aspects while OpenAI handles operational duties. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman.
The Stargate project aims to establish both physical and virtual infrastructure to support the next generation of advancements in artificial intelligence, including the construction of "colossal data centers". The initiative is expected to create over 100,000 jobs in the United States within the next four years. Trump declared that this initiative would be the largest AI infrastructure project in history.
“This project will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies,” stated OpenAI in its announcement.
President Trump has also repealed an executive order issued by his predecessor, Joe Biden, which sought to regulate AI-related risks. This decision allows major companies to continue AI development without mandatory government regulations.
Earlier, Kazinform News Agency reported that Donald Trump signed executive orders on his first day as president.
