Turkey hails iInt'l symposium dedicated to Al Farabi

ASTANA. KAZINFORM An international symposium "Thinker of the world civilization - Al Farabi" took place in Eskisehir Province of Turkey on November 13-17, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.

The four-day symposium gathered politicians and reps of international organizations known in Turkey and abroad, turcologists and academicians from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Great Britain, the US, Spain, etc. The symposium was purposed to promulgate the works of the famous thinker who was born in the Kazakh soil and left a good deal of tractates. The event stirred great public interest. The leading academic figures expressed their wish to visit Kazakhstan to study further cultural and philosophical legacy of Al Farabi. Al-Farabi, known in the West as Alpharabius, was a renowned scientist and philosopher of the Islamic Golden Age. He was also a cosmologist, logician and musician, representing the multidisciplinary approach of Muslim scientists.
