Turkey ready for assuming CICA chairmanship: Abdullah Gul

ANKARA. February 13. KAZINFORM Turkey announced officially its readiness to assume chairmanship in the Conference on Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in 2010, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul said in a special letter to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. In this view Ankara is ready to organize CICA summit in the same year, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of Kazakhstan Embassy in Turkey.

As earlier reported, at the III CICA ministerial meeting N. Nazarbayev forwarded a proposition to give chairmanship in the CICA in 2010 to Turkey, ?one of the most active participants of the Organization?. In this connection, the Turkish side noted that this decision had been adopted ?with the consideration of the brother relations between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Turkey and realization of importance of the CICA process for the Asian continent and the world in whole?. ?Over the last eight years brother country Kazakhstan has successfully accomplished its mission of the CICA presiding country?, A. Gul noted in his letter and expressed hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state bodies of Kazakhstan would share their experience in this field.
