Turkish city, Konya, celebrates Nouruz
The event was organized in the city park by the representatives of the cultural and social center of the Kazakh Diaspora, the youth wing of the Kazakhs,and Nogai national associations in Turkey. Festivities were accompanied by national ceremonies, such as the hammer strikes on the anvil, jumping over fire, and others, during which representatives of the Kazakh Diaspora treated participants to local food and drinks. Kazakh folklore ensembles performed national songs and folk dances. The local government noted the importance of restoring the millennial equinox holiday in Turkey. They also noted Kazakhstan's high role in the resumption of the millennial traditions of this holiday, which is celebrated in Kazakhstan at the state level. Konya is the center of the Sufi mystical practices and one of the most important pilgrimage centers; it is located on the border of the ancient plateau surrounded by fertile land. Outstanding poet and Sufi, the founder of the dervishes' Mevlevi Order, Dzhalaladdin Rumi, better known as Mevlana, lived here.
