Turkish filmmaker, Seyfi Teoman, dies at age 35

ISTANBUL. May 9. KAZINFORM Turkish filmmaker Seyfi Teoman, who has been in the intensive care unit of an Istanbul hospital for three weeks after being seriously injured in a motorbike accident near Istanbul's Bakırköy district, died at the age 35 on Tuesday.

The young filmmaker was riding his motorbike on April 16 along İstanbul's E-5 motorway near Bakırköy when he had the accident, which caused serious brain hemorrhage. Teoman was immediately taken to Istanbul University's Çapa Medical School Hospital and placed under intensive care, Today's Zaman reports.

The acclaimed writer/director behind the indie films "Tatil Kitabı" (Summer Book), his international award-winning debut, and "Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz" (Our Grand Despair), which competed for the Golden Bear award at last year's Berlin Film Festival, turned 35 last month. Teoman is also one of the co-producers of recent festival favorite "Tepenin Ardı" (Beyond the Hill), the debut feature by Turkish filmmaker Emin Alper.
