Turkish newly elected president to pay first visit to Azerbaijan
ANKARA. KAZINFORM - Turkish newly elected president Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay his first visit to Azerbaijan, Turkish Kanal A TV channel reported Aug. 15.
Moreover, Erdogan as the president is expected to visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Turkey held the presidential election on Aug. 10. Current Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who gained 51.8 percent of votes, won the election. The former head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu ranked second with 38.56 percent of votes, while the People's Democracy Party's (HDP) Head Salahaddin Demirtas, who gained 9.79 percent of votes, ranked third, Trend.az reported. The authority of Turkish incumbent president Abdullah Gul will expire on August 28.
