TurkPA Secretary General meets with Chinese delegation

BAKU. KAZINFORM - Today in Baku, Secretary General of TurkPA Jandos Assanov has received a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (PRC), headed by the deputy director of the European-Central Asian Affairs of the PRC, Su Fangqiu.

The Chinese delegation arrived in Azerbaijan to discuss issues of the upcoming Summit of Heads of States and Governments of member-states of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which will be held in May the current year in Shanghai (China). During the Summit the Republic of Turkey will give CICA chairmanship to the People's Republic of China. The idea of convening the conference was offered on October 5, 1992 by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev during the 47th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. The driving force of the initiative was the common desire to establish an effective and acceptable framework for peace and security in Asia.
