The state news agency Sana said "terrorists" were responsible for the attacks in the Jaramana district.

The blasts come the day after British-based Syrian activists said government fighter planes had killed "tens of people" when they bombed an olive factory in the north-west of the country, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch said on Sunday that government planes had dropped cluster bombs on a village near Damascus, killing at least 11 children.

Tens of thousands of people have died since an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011, according to UN and activist estimates.
