Two killed in car, train collision in Central Russia
MOSCOW/KOSTROMA. May 26. KAZINFORM Two people, including a child, were killed on Thursday in Central Russia's Kostroma Region as a car and a cargo train collided at an unregulated railroad crossing, a local official said.
According to RIA Novosti, the accident occurred as a Russian-made Lada Kalina car carrying three passengers through the railroad crossing on a red light and was hit by the cargo train. An elderly woman and her granddaughter were killed on the spot. A 59-year-old man who was driving the car was severely injured.
Six rail carriages carrying methanol veered off the tracks.
Firefighters are working at the scene.
