U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation held workshop in Almaty

ALMATY. November 11. KAZINFORM /Serik Koibagarov/ A workshop on "The role of the international cooperation in science, technologies and innovations development in Kazakhstan" organized by the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) has been held in Almaty Wednesday.

President of the CRDF Cathleen Campbell informed on the activity of the Foundation, established in 1995 by the National Science Foundation of the USA to support international and technical cooperation by means of allocation of grants, technical materials and organization of trainings. "We would like to help your country to build the economy based on the knowledge and expertise", Head of the Foundation said, expressing satisfaction and interest in further work of the Foundation in Kazakhstan.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Science of the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science Valeriy Mogilnyi noted that the international cooperation provides the Kazakh scientific community with an opportunity to integrate in the world scientific space, strengthen the international contacts, receive additional funds for joint scientific initiatives. He said that the use of the modern American experience in capitalization of the scientific researches and attraction f the private sector to the scientific sphere in order to increase its competitive ability is very important for Kazakhstan.

"We are interested in establishment of joint data base of the leading American and Kazakh scientists for quick scientific information interchange, access to modern scientific data, organization of joint conferences and seminars on topical issues, and establishment of programs on PhD candidates exchange", V.Mogilnyi said.
