UAE to boost investment in RES in Kazakhstan
The UAE cooperates with 48 countries in the field of renewable energy sources development, including Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Addressing the KIOGE conference in Almaty today, UAE Energy Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei said that RES are becoming an important addition to the traditional energy resources such as oil and gas.
The speaker said that the UAE plans to invest more than $20 billion in 40 countries in the development of this sphere.
According to him, the UAE is happy to collaborate with Kazakhstan in generation of 1 GW of green energy. These figures are set to increase to reach more than 14 GW of solar energy generation by 2030.
In his words, the UAE adopted the strategy as the world needs more energy supplies. At the same time, he said, the UAE expands production of other energy sources that are more modern and cleaner.
“We strive to increase our production in the future, as the future belongs to green energy. I think that Kazakhstan is pursuing the same goals in a long-term outlook,” he noted.
He also added that the UAE managed to establish cooperation with Kazakhstan both in the Caspian Sea, and in organizing logistics chains between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to use the infrastructure for ensuring uninterrupted supply of energy resources.
“We want not only to ensure success in oil and gas production, but also to develop renewable energy sources, especially in Kazakhstan," he added.
