Ulytau region to launch 16 investment projects in 2024
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Governor of Ulytau region Berik Abdygaliuly, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Akorda press office.
Berik Abdygaliuly reported to the President on the results of the region’s socio-economic development in 2023.
According to him, in 2023, the volume of fixed capital investments increased by 14% having reached 210.1 billion tenge, while the share of private investments made 90%. Last year, the region implemented three large projects worth 10 billion tenge.
The governor said that in 2024 the region plans to launch at least 16 projects, eight of which will be implemented in industry and geology, three – in tourism and trade, and five – in agro-industrial sector, with 700 new jobs to be created.
Kassym-Jomart was reported about Ulytau region’s plan to build a poultry farm, a meat processing complex, and farms which will specialize in potato and vegetables growing on the area of 3,000 hectares.
As part of the Comfortable School programme, the region plans to build six schools for 3,600 students in 2024-2025. One of them will be opened in 2024 in Zhezkazgan.
The governor also reported about the construction of 10 sports facilities to be commissioned this year. They are a 320-seat multifunctional sports complex with a pool, Youth Sports Academy of Kazakhmys Corporation in Zhezkazgan, sports and recreation centers in Zhezdy and Zhanaarka villages, and a roofed pool in Karazhal and five playgrounds.
The meeting also touched upon heat supply related issues.
In 2029, the region plans to build Thermal Power Plant 2 in Zhezkazgan and Satpayev in 2029, to tackle heat supply deficit problem.
The President was also informed on the launch of construction and reconstruction works on the Zhezkazgan-Kyzylorda and Zhezkazgan-Arkalyk highways, and on reconstruction of Uitas-Aidos water supply line.
At the end of the meeting, the President set forth a number of tasks to the governor of Ulytau region.
