UMBETEI TLEUULY
UMBETEI TLEUULY (UMBETEI ZHYRAU) (1706-1778) – an outstanding zhyrau (poet).

He was born in South Kazakhstan oblast. The main topic of Umbetei?s works is protection of the Kazakh people from foreign invaders, struggle of the people for independence, friendship and harmony among the Kazakhs. He was honest in his poetry, spoke the truth openly in faces of khans and sultans.
Umbetei became famous as a zhyrshy (storyteller), being a brother-in-arms of a zhyrshy of Bogenbai batyr. One group of Umbetei?s works (?Bakege?, ?Zhaukasharga?, ?Bukarga?, ?Bekbolat bige? and etc.) raises the problems of social justice, humanity, and the other ? is dedicated to heroic life of Bogenbai batyr.
Umbetei was a close friend of Bukhar zhyrau. Umbetei?s creativity was dedicated to poems and songs about patriotism, protection of the Homeland, love for his people.
