UN Special Rapporteur was informed about environmental rights of Kazakhstani people

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - April 3 member of the Senate Yerbolat Mukayev met with Baskut Tuncak, UN Special Rapporteur on the implications for human rights of the environmentally sound management and disposal of hazardous substances and wastes, the press service of the House reported.

During the conversation, the senator stressed that Kazakhstan has been and remains committed to the principles of transparency and impartiality in the framework of international cooperation for the promotion and protection of human rights. Mr. Mukayev briefed his conversation partner about the implementation of the Environmental Code and environmental rights of Kazakhstan citizens embodied in the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It should be noted that Kazakhstan has ratified most human rights treaties. Our country has developed and implemented the concept of legal policy for 2010-2020. In the near future it is planned to work out a new National action plan for human rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2020. At the end of the meeting the parties spoke in favor of further strengthening mutual cooperation in the field of human rights.
