UN supports President Nazarbayev's international initiatives: meeting in Astana

Having congratulated Mr. Jenča on his appointment, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev lauded his successful tenure as the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. "I am confident that your extensive experience and knowledge of Central Asia will be useful in your future work," Speaker Tokayev said. Miroslav Jenča, in turn, praised Kazakhstan's special role in ensuring global security and added that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon highly estimated Nursultan Nazarbayev's contribution to the process of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. According to him, Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative on the convocation of the Conference on Interaction and Cooperation in Asia (CICA) is the key tool to ensure security in Asia. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, also briefed Miroslav Jenča on the preparations for the 5th Congress scheduled to take place in Astana on June 10-11, 2015. He added that participation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who had been invited by President Nazarbayev as a special guest was of paramount importance. Having commended Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative on the convocation of the Congress, Mr. Jenča expressed gratitude on behalf of the UN Secretary-General for the invitation. In his words, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon plans to attend the upcoming 5th Congress.
