Unemployment rate in Zhambyl region decreased by 5.6% in 2008

ZHAMBYL REGION. February 20. KAZINFORM. /Galina Skripnik/ The department of statistics of Zhambyl region characterized the situation in the regional labor market in 2008 as steady. Economic activity of the population increased.

The number of employees in various branches of the economy was 533 thousand people. That is by 14.5 thousand people more than in 2007. About 9 thousand people were employed within the framework of realization of the Action Plan on improvement of Zhambyl oblast employment system for 2008-2010. About 700 unemployed underwent professional training. About KZT 180 million was allocated for these measures. Due to the measures taken in the region the unemployment rate made 6.6 per cent at the beginning of 2009.
