UNESCO Convention on means of preventing theft of cultural property ratified

TANA. November 2. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The Kazakh Majilis has approved a draft Law "On ratification of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property" at a plenary session.

"Today we propose a very important bill, which foresees ratification of the Convention," Minister of Culture Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed said.

According to him, this Convention was adopted by UNESCO in Paris on November 14, 1970. Presently, 119 states joined the Convention.

The Minister emphasized that accession to the Convention is very important for Kazakhstan.
