Unique operation performed in Kostanay
KOSTANAY. KAZINFORM - Surgeon of Kostanay Regional Hospital Vladislav Achkasov has carried out a unique operation.
The doctor has removed mucous tumor (benign tumor of connective tissue) which was larger than 10 cm from the heart of the woman, aged 77. V.Achkasov said that the surgery was very risky, but, fortunately, successful. The patient felt well. The other day she was discharged from the hospital. Myxoma is the most common primary tumor of the heart in adults, but can also occur in other locations. Myxomas are usually located in either the left or right atrium of the heart; about 86 percent occur in the left atrium.
