UNWTO predicts up to 1,8 bln tourists by 2030

In his video address to the delegates of the VII Astana Economic Forum he said how dynamic tourism industry is. Back to 1950, 22 mln people travelled around the world. Last year international tourist arrivals reached 1 bln, meanwhile 5,5 bln travel inside their countries. According to him, this sector will continue its growth. "We predict 1,8 billion of international tourists by 2030. They generate above 1 USD trillion in exports and 9% of the world's GDP. 1 out of 11 people work in the sphere of tourism globally," he said. "Kazakhstan has ancient cities, cultural heritage. Tourism should become one of the priorities of the country's policy to gain socioeconomic welfare. EXPO 2017 will also put Kazakhstan into the centre of the world tourist map," he added.
