Ural River delta and adjacent coast of Caspian Sea entered Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance

ASTANA. April 1. KAZINFORM The territory of the Ural River delta and adjacent coast of the Caspian Sea is included in the list of natural areas protected by the Ramsar Convention, Kazinform refers to the press service of the UNDP in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan joined the Ramsar convention in May, 2007, thus committing themselves to save water lands on their territory for humankind. To date the Ramsar List also includes Tenghiz-Korgalzhynskaya system of lakes. It should be noted that the buffer zone of West Kazakhstan received the worldwide recognition on April 1, the day when environmentalists around the world celebrate the Day of birds, including those whose natural habitat are wetlands.
