US election online contest results held in Kazakhstan announced

ASTANA. November 19. KAZINFORM Early in October, in the days before the U.S. elections, the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy held a contest for students across Kazakhstan to foster learning about the U.S. political system.

The thirteen questions challenged students to search for information throughout the Internet, including the elibraryUSA database resources at the American Corners .  Contest participants were students under the age of 21, most of whom did an excellent job answering the questions, cited references and did not plagiarized.  The participants expressed their feelings that the contest was educational and provided interesting facts about U.S. history and the election process.

Nagima Iskakova, a student from Astana, has proven her superior knowledge of the U.S. election process and won an iPad.  Second place was awarded to Aizhan Kapysheva, a NU student from Astana and a third place to Kamila Artykova, a student from Aktobe. Aizhan received and iPod Touch and Kamila received an iPod Nano, the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan aid.
