The chairman of the Senate foreign affairs committee Jiшн Dientsbier says he believes the United States may never build a radar base in the Czech Republic. Speaking on the Czech TV, he said the global financial crisis could make a good cause for abandoning the project. ?US will not work at this project in the near future?, - said the senator. According to Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzezinski, who served as United States National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981, building the radar base in Czech Republic is not a foreground task for USA, Kazinform refers to Trend News. Opinion polls have consistently suggested that around two thirds of Czechs are opposed to the planned radar base. Prague and Washington have signed treaties on the radar, though the lower house of the Czech Parliament has not yet voted on the matter.
