USAFE band performs in Astana
The band traveled to Kazakhstan as part of the KADEX military exhibition, organized and supported by the government of Kazakhstan. The military band performed at the Zhas Ulan cadet school for boys, public school # 17, where they visited the only war museum at a local high school in Astana, and at the Music College of the National University of Arts. U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth Fairfax opened the band's performance at the Music College in front of several hundred school children, some of whom are music students. The sextet performed jazz standards and classics as well as original compositions to their audiences. Young boys and girls who attended the event got a chance to take photos, get autographs and even dance with members of the U.S. military band, the press service of the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan reports.
