USAID hands over $960,000-worth computer servers to Kazakhstan to modernize its customs infrastructure

The U.S. Agency for International Development handed over modern computer servers to the State Revenues Committee of Kazakhstan to modernize the country’s customs infrastructure, Kazinform News Agency reports.

USAID spent $960,000 to buy up-to-date DELL servers to maintain Keden IT system of Kazakhstan’s State Revenues Committee which will replace the outdated Astana-1 system.

The new Keden customs administration system of Kazakhstan will enable to reduce clearance time and improve data security due to the use of automation technologies, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The new servers are called to replace the outdated equipment which had low productivity.

Chairman of the State Revenues Committee Zhandos Duissembiyev said he highly appreciated the support of the U.S. government and highlighted positive influence of new servers on the operation of Kazakhstan’s customs system.

“Today, the Committee works on development and implementation of a new customs information system. The upgraded server equipment provided by the USAID will be used to introduce the functions of this new system. Customs formalities will be eased with the implementation of this system,” Zhandos Duissembieyv said.

U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum noted that the two countries share the vision of the transparent and secure trade environment and that Kazakhstan strengthens its position as a leading regional commercial center.

The Ambassador noted that the implementation of innovative technologies will let optimize the procedures, increase accuracy, improve transparency and create favorable conditions for doing business, which will let attract investors and boost economic development.
