Uzbekistan eyes $30bn exports in 2025
This was announced by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the meeting on investment and export, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Uzbekistan is targeting over 30 billion US dollars in exports this year, said the press service of the Uzbek President, building on significant market expansion in textile and electronics industries.
Boasting its own raw material base, the Central Asian country seeks to push its exports in the sectors mentioned by 2-3fold by adopting measures to promote the sectors and provide all-round support for exporters.
In particular, a separate factoring organization, which will receive 100 million US dollars to provide exporters with working capital, will be set up. Enterprises’ incurred expenses of up to 20,000 US dollars following conformity assessment certification will be compensated. Laboratory equipment for research and development centers will be customs-free. Two million US dollars will be provided to promote local products through international market places, reads the statement.
Uzbekistan’s GDP grew 6.5%, reaching 115 billion US dollars, in 2024, the press service added.
Foreign investment in Uzbekistan rose 1.6fold totaling at around 35 billion US dollars, while the country’s exports surpassed 27 billion US dollars for the first time.
During the meeting, the country defined its key tasks on investment and exports for the present year, with $5.2bn worth projects set to be carried out at the expense of international financial institutions.
Earlier it was reported that over 1,000 Kazakhstan-owned companies operate in Uzbekistan.
