Uzbekistan Tourism Year kicks off in China
Beijing hosted the grand opening of the Year of Tourism of Uzbekistan in China. The event was supported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, the Tourism Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and the UNWTO, UzA reports.
The ceremony brought together representatives of Chinese ministries, major travel companies, cultural organizations, journalists and bloggers. The participants were informed about the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector in recent years, the creation of favorable conditions for foreign tourists, and the country’s tourism potential.
Mr. Lu Yingchuan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, noted that Uzbekistan is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for Chinese citizens. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili stressed Uzbekistan’s high tourism potential and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
The event included a business forum devoted to tourism and investment, presentations, and B2B meetings. The guests enjoyed a concert program with national Uzbek songs and dances and a treat of traditional Uzbek dishes.
During the Year of Tourism of Uzbekistan in China, cultural, tourist and economic events are planned in major cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Chengdu. Special reports will be organized in Chinese media to showcase Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and tourism opportunities.
