Uzbekistani President arrives in Astana for SCO Summit
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, arrived in the Kazakh capital to take part in the 24th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He was warmly greeted by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh Government.
The Republic of Uzbekistan has been a member of the SCO since its inception in 2001.
Uzbekistan is currently one of the largest trade partners of Kazakhstan. In the 2017 fiscal year, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries reached approximately $4.5 billion. In the first four months of the 2018 fiscal year, the value of mutual trade reached $1.2 billion. Uzbekistan accounts for approximately 57 per cent of the total trade turnover of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Central Asia.
