Vehicle registrations up 2.5% in Kazakhstan

Latest figures for 2024 show that the number of registered vehicles was up 2.5% in Kazakhstan, with cars accounting for the largest share, Kazinform News Agency cites the National Statistics Bureau.

According to the Bureau, in October 2024, 170.4 thousand vehicles were registered in the country, a 2.5% year-on-year increase.

As of November 1, the number of registered vehicles totaled 5 million 652 thousand in Kazakhstan, with passenger cars accounting for 88%, trucks – 9.9% and buses – 2.1%.

Out of the total passenger cars registered, cars with engine sizes from 1,500 to 2,000 cubic centimetres (cc) amounted to 43.9%, cars with 2,000-2,500cc engines – 17.4%, cars with 2,500-4,000cc engines – 14.9% and cars with engine sizes over 4,000CC – 1.9%.

Almaty region accounted for the highest number of registrations of cars with 1,500-2,000cc engines – 232,900, followed by Almaty – 217,400, Astana – 168,700 and Karaganda region – 158,200.
