Vienna hosted OSCE Group?s session on coop with Mediterranean partners

VIENNA. March 2. KAZINFORM First session of the OSCE Group for Cooperation with the Mediterranean Partners was held in Vienna on February 27 under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan. The Group unites 56 member countries including Alger, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco and Tunis, Kazinform reports.

According to the press service of Kazakhstan?s Permanent Representation to the Organization, interaction with the Mediterranean partners is one of the key directions in the OSCE activity and aims at determinating mutual spheres of interests and potential for further coordinated actions on ensuring security and countering challenges and threats. The participants welcomed Kazakhstan?s initiative on organization of the OSCE workshop on tolerance and religions freedom in Astana with the participation of the Mediterranean partners. The event is scheduled for July 30, 2009 on the threshold of the III Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions. Kazakhstan?s Permanent Representative to the OSCE Kairat Abdrakhmanov told in detail about the history and results of the first inter-faith congress initiated by President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev.
