VII Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad kicked off in Aktobe
TOBE. November 9. KAZINFORM /Samal Yendibayeva/ The VII Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad, devoted to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence and Yuri Gagarin's space flight 50th anniversary, has started its work in Aktobe.
7 teams from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, Korea, Indonesia and Kazakhstan are taking part in it.
The olympiad is purposed to promulgate natural science, heighten interest of school students in astronomy and deepen cooperation between the Asia Pacific countries.
65 pupils are expected to show their knowledge in astronomy.
An awarding ceremony is set for November 14.
