Vladimir Putin thanks Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for invitation and warm welcome
The ongoing visit and talks will contribute to the further development of multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Vladimir Putin told a briefing for journalists held in Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The Heads of State debated a wide range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian spheres, and shared views on the pressing issues of regional and international agenda. He said the Joint Statement signed following the talks sets new ambitious tasks for further deepening of strategic partnership between the two states. He also added that intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents covering the various spheres of cooperation ranging from transport, and healthcare to justice will contribute to the development of the tasks set.
As earlier reported, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev greeted President of Russia Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Kazakhstan for a state visit, at the Astana airport.
Relations between Kazakhstan and Russia are based on a solid foundation of strategic partnership and alliance, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in a restricted-attendance meeting with his counterpart President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the Akorda.
The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia signed the Joint Statement and other agreements.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin attended the plenary session of the XX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia via videoconferencing.
The President of Russia arrived in Kazakhstan for a state visit at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and will participate in the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
