SOCHI. KAZINFORM - The Olympic flame at the XXII Olympic Winter Games has been ignited by the legendary Soviet athletes, triple Olympic champion - goalkeeper of the USSR hockey team Vladislav Tretiak and figure skater Irina Rodnina.

The torch was brought into the stadium by the famous tennis player Maria Sharapova, who gave the character of the competition to Yelena Isinbayeva. She gave the torch to wrestler Alexander Karelin, who continued to lap around the stadium. The torch was handed to gymnast Alina Kabaeva and then to Tretiak and Rodnina.
