Volkswagen's new Golf named Car of the Year 2013
GENEVA. March 5. KAZINFORM The Volkswagen Golf VII was named "Car of the Year 2013" on Monday by automobile journalists of seven magazines from 22 countries.
"The new Golf has been recognized by the Jury for its overall balance and the outstanding achievements in safety, fuel efficiency, dynamics and comfort," said the organizing committee in a statement.
It's the second time for Golf to win the award. Its third generation won the trophy in 1992.
It took a clear win on eve of the annual Geneva International Motor Show with 414 points against other seven finalists, ahead of Toyota GT-86, also sold as Subaru BRZ with 202 points, and Volvo V40 with 189 points.
The 83rd Geneva Motor Show will open to media Tuesday and Wednesday before opening to the public from March 7 to 17, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
